Tiger Woods connection to Galesburg ; rabbits join goats on my list; Streaks upset; Club 19
Tiger Woods and GalesburgOK, it’s kind of a stretch, but Galesburg and Tiger Woods have a connection. It’s more like Tiger’s former instructor and swing coach Hank Haney has ties with Galesburg . Thanks to a tip from our history columnist Tom Wilson, I found out this luke donald is ranked world no 3 week Haney’s father Jim grew up in Galesburg and is a 1951 graduate of Galesburg High School.I left Galesburg for good after high school. My wife who is not from Galesburg (college romance), Hank and his younger sister Halle visited my parents often until their deaths in 1985 and ’86. We have no family ties in Galesburg or the surrounding community. I was school of golf last in Galesburg 10 years ago for the 50th class reunion anniversary. I’m hopeful of returning for the 60th if our schedule permits. We travel a great deal and I play golf four-five times a week.“I have wonderful memories of growing up in Galesburg and still read The Register-Mail online. When my father was manager of the A&P on Broad Street all those years, practically everyone in town traded there and he knew them all. I used to love to go next door to the armory and watch Knox College basketball practices. It was a fun time and kids today, including our three grandkids missed out on a lot.”
