I prefer M:TG face to face, as online games always seem too slow for my taste. That said, Duels of the Planeswalkers offers a wide variety of play styles, including many solitaire ways to play, and that’s mostly what I use their online software for. Looks like I’m not the only one to enjoy playing M:TG alone, as the 2012 version promises more solo opponents to school of golf crush, as well as puzzle challenges like the ones you used to find in gaming magazines. You know, back when there were tabletop gaming magazines. Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 will even offer a new cooperative mode, called Archenemy, where you and a pair of friends can try to fight some otherwise Clijsters Is Associated With India Wells unfairly strong AI opponent. A working beta of Archenemy mode was on display at PAX East, with the evil Tezzeret on hand to deliver smackdown. Trios of lucky fans got to try their luck against the villain, but I don’t imagine they got the upper hand. Cooperative Magic plays very differently than head to head, and even tournament decks, powerful on an individual level, are no match for three decks designed to work together. I’m sure the designers of Archenemy mode know that as well as I do, and made Tezzeret, and any other opponents, accordingly powerful.
